SILVER WATERFALL WALK
WITH ABISKO GUESTHOUSE
The beautiful silver waterfall rushes down the mountainside by Rakkasjokk and out into Lake Torneträsk.
The falls sit nestled into the mossy mountainside. We take the stone path down towards it.
Arctic plants hug the riverbanks and covers bits of the slate and limestone. Saxifrage and roseroot grow alongside the lovely orange-coloured lichen.
Standing on the bridge and looking back at the steep, majestic waterfall, listening to the roar of the falling water, is worth doing.
The final part of the path drops down steeply to the beach. Don’t miss the fantastic view of Lapporten (the gap in the mountains known as the gate to Lapland) from here.
This hiking tour is available most days in the summer. Lunch is not included so bring food with you. The hike takes 3-4 hours and starts at 10:00. Clothing should be suitable for being out in the weather and some walking.
