Our daytime and evening photo tours in the Abisko area enable you to collect wonderful memories of the area in picture form. This tour offers a full range of photo adventures.
We explore the countryside around Abisko in our own minibuses and with a bit of walking, stopping regularly to take photos and experience being out in the open wilderness. We may head up into the hills and down to the lakeside, we’ll go past and through birch forests but wherever we go, you can be sure of some wonderful views.
In the evening, the sunlight changes and the views take on warmer, softer colours. In the middle of the summer, we’ll see the sun dip down to the horizon and then start climbing up again – the magical midnight sun.
Do not worry if you have never used camera before, our professional photographers will quickly teach you the skills for taking picture and they will be there to take amazing photos with and of you! We provide you with a camera and tripod – you need a memory card to take home your photos. Those memories and photos will last a lifetime.
During the trip you are provided with a camera and tripods.
Starting time 10am daytime and 9pm evening. Duration about 4 hours. Bring your own packed lunch/evening snacks.

The spectacular scenery that greets us as we head into Norway makes this tour something truly special. Mountains stand majestically up all around the fjords and lakes and the sea never fully freezes. We may even see eagles, orcas and dolphins, though we can't guarantee it!
Our Fjords photo tour offers a full range of photo adventures. We set off from Abisko and head west alongside the magical Lake Torneträsk in our minibuses, crossing the border into Norway at Riksgränsen.
During the trip we stop at some of the beautiful and historically significant places along the way and the guide will tell you about the area and history. The landscape changes dramatically as we had towards the fjords. Once we get to the village of Bjerkvik, we stop somewhere for you to buy lunch.
From Bjerkvik, we head north to Grovfjord, a village beside the Grov fjord where the fjord is at its narrowest. The Moelva and Gårdselva rivers flow down into the fjord at this point.
Once we have taking our fill of wonderful photographs, we set off to the east to see and stop at the 23-km (14 mile) long Gratangen fjord. There are battlegrounds from WW2 along the whole route, including the Battle of Gratangen.
Each fjord is equally but differently beautiful.
Do not worry if you have never used camera before, our professional photographers will quickly teach you the skills for taking picture and they will be there to take amazing photos with and of you! Those memories and photos will last a lifetime.
This tour is available most days in the winter. Lunch is not included but we stop at a café or you can bring food with you. The tour takes 5 hours and starts at 10:00. The tour is by minibus in our own tour buses and clothing should be suitable for being out in the weather but not much walking.
During the trip you can either use your own camera or our cameras and tripods. Please bring your own SD memory card to use. If you don't have your own memory card, you can buy one from the Reception before we leave.
1550 SEK/person (no lunch included but we stop if you want to buy some).

What advice would you like to give guests coming to photograph in Abisko?
"The most complicated aspect of night photography, from my experience, is the framing of photograph. Getting to know the place you want to photograph from during the daytime helps for when it is dark. I recommend going out during daylight hours and taking some test photos, looking for good angles to photograph from. That prepares you for the nighttime, giving you a good understanding of the area you're going to.
My advice is to have patience! Do not be impatient and instead enjoy the moment. When we see the northern lights, we all want to photograph it and have the best photos but try to stop for a moment and enjoy the experience. Wild animals are always difficult to photograph as you cannot predict their behavior or get too close so with patience and good planning you can get impressive photos.
Finally, don't forget to bring warm clothes! It's quite cold up here in the winter :)"

Our Aurora BBQ is great and you stay warm while you wait for the northern lights to appear. We highly recommend it!
We start in our own BBQ hut alongside the hotel, with a beautiful view of Lake Torneträsk and there we BBQ a local Sami dish called 'souvas' with local vegetables. We cook in a very large dish in the center of the room over an open fire, in the old-fashioned Sami way. Souvas is made from lightly smoked reindeer meat and is delicious.
We don't let the weather bother us, we sit and enjoy the fire and the food and relax in the warm bbq hut while we wait for the northern lights to appear.
Once we are happy and full, we take the snowmobiles or minibuses out to find a great spot for seeing and photographing the aurora. We stop as soon as we see it and always have plenty of time for taking photos. Our guides can help you get a good shot, on your camera.

Tour Abisko National Park in a sled pulled by our amazing huskies.
Join some of the most well-trained sled dogs in the world on a dog-sledding safari with us in Abisko. We sit on a large, comfortable sled and our guides drive, along with 10-12 Alaskan Huskies in front of us. We head out over areas Abisko National Park that aren't easy to access without the dogs and take in the spectacular scenery around us.
Once we are moving, the dogs concentrate on where they are going so the only sound is the sled sliding quietly across the snow, making it a very peaceful tour.
We stop to take photos and to pet and chatter to the dogs.
